Apollo 15 Learning Hub - Revisiting the Lunar landing with the help of primary source documents and virtual simulation. - Aryabrata Basu, Ph.D., Visual Information Specialist, Digital Visualization Laboratory, Emory Center for Digital Scholarship, Emory University

Can you imagine what it would take to recreate the Apollo 15 Lunar Module? And capture the moment right after the Apollo 15 crew landed on the surface of the moon, along with all the primary sourced Lunar Module Cue Cards placed accurately on the main control panel of the Lunar Module interior. The Apollo 15 Learning Hub project was conceived in the Fall of 2016 and has been a long-running endeavor at the Emory Center for Digital Scholarship. The project has been developed to assemble, preserve, and make available primary source records of Apollo 15 for research, education, and preservation, and as an example of a uniquely human endeavor. Apollo missions relied on the use of a Lunar Module, which detached from the Command and Service Module (CSM) in order to descend to the lunar surface. We finally deployed the 3d model as part of the main Apollo 15 Learning Hub website. Anyone with access to the internet can experience an immersion into the Falcon Lunar Module, as happened on July 30th, 1971.
