Striking maps reveal the huge wealth gap between San Francisco and the rest of the country

That's nearly double the national median household income of $57,617, according to the US Census Bureau.
A new interactive mapâ which plots average incomes in counties across the US â visualizes the enormous wealth gap between the San Francisco Bay Area and the rest of the country.
Developed by the mapping-software company Esri, the project explores patterns of wealth and poverty within American cities and the country as a whole.
